The DIYStyle Handbook started as a shared notebook between two friends who kept fixing things in each other's houses on weekends. After the third time someone said "wait, how did you do that again?" — we started writing it down properly, then decided to put it together as one book instead of scattered notes.
Every chapter is built from a project we actually did — including the parts that went wrong the first time. We'd rather tell you the mistake we made than pretend it went perfectly.
Six years and dozens of projects later, that's still the whole approach: build it first, write it down honestly, and only put it in the book once we'd trust it enough to hand to a friend.
We never accept payment to recommend a specific product or tool brand in the book. Any tool mentioned is what we actually used, chosen because it worked.
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use this site — nothing that identifies you personally. See our Privacy Policy.
